The I real…the next phase?

Did anyone see the Top Gear a few days ago were Richard Hammond tried out a new Toyota car that is said to be coming out by 2010 in Japan. I introduce you to the I realireal-ptd1 , this revolutionary vehicle is only suitable for short distances. Richard Hammond said that it could be that teenagers use it to meet up with friends at night instead of walking. Though it can be seen to be a glorified wheelchair, especially when you look at this picture the only un-wheelchair like feature is it’s speed. Its top speed is up to 20 mph as stated on Top Gear though there have been some references that this isn’t true and that it is only 9mph.

The most interesting features of it for me is that this vehicle has been equipped with integrated GUI for easy operation and connection with other I Real’s users. It has basically been designed as a social networking vehicle where you can ask your other I real friends to join you at Starbucks around the corner or maybe let them know where you are going. They have also created an app that means you can download music to your ipod which could lead to many other applications being added to the chair. It could become the next I phone, where you are able to add many different apps including the resteraunt finders or weather reports.  Though unlike many of the i products that Toyota have created over the years this one looks set to actually be manufactured.

This product shows how much the ‘i’ generation has become an important feature in society, the i phone, i pod and the wii products from nintendo are all about creating a personal brand and creating a bond with the company, be it apple, toyota or nintendo. Maybe the next thing will be that they build this type of technology into normal cars and maybe other mobile pieces of technology? Facebook and twitter in your car on the move?
